Legal Help Reaching Workable Child Custody Agreements
Chicago, Schaumburg, Northbrook, and Wheaton Child Custody Attorneys
Child custody and visitation are the most commonly disputed issues in divorce negotiations because of the emotional and financial effects. The guiding principle in all child custody matters is "the best interest of the child," but often parents do not agree on what is really in the child's best interest.
A skilled and experienced child custody attorney can be particularly important in the outcome of a child custody case in a divorce situation. Even in paternity cases, it's wise to work with a lawyer who can help you get favorable visitation (which may include grandparent visitation).
The child custody lawyers at Anderson & Associates, P.C. have been helping families in Cook County and DuPage County with child custody negotiations for more than 25 years. We are committed to effectively representing your interests in child custody negotiations and in court.

Facts about Illinois Child Custody
There are two types of custody that can be granted by the court: legal custody (who can make legal decision) and physical custody (where the child will live).
- Legal custody allows one or both parents to have input into the major decisions of how the child will be raised, including education, religion, medical care, and extracurricular activities.
- Physical custody will specify the child's primary residence and a schedule for parenting time (or visitation for a non-custodial parent).
Effective child custody agreements are best reached when parents work together cooperatively. If parents need additional resources to reach an agreement, we can help with a child custody evaluation. If parents cannot reach an agreement, our skilled trial attorneys represent clients in family court.
Child Custody Must be Responsive to Changing Family Needs
Children change, parents change and custody and visitation agreements sometimes need to change as well. We can help you bring your child custody case back to court to seek modification of an existing custody and visitation agreement or to gain permission or to fight a request to remove your child from the state.
Our full-service law firm also handles other legal issues involving children, such as child support, adoption, guardianships and enforcement of existing custody and visitation orders.
